Andrea Verdemare is an Italian BJJ black belt with a reputation for putting it on the line in every fight. He's obsessed with jiu jitsu - just like us - and we think he'll be a black belt world champion one day.
In his own words:
I start to train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2002 in Tribe Jiu Jjitsu academy, under Federico Tisi. In that period there were very few competitions in Italy, and most of them were NoGi, so I started to compete in a lot of international competitions, sometimes in upper divisions.
I won and lost, but always on the podium.
In 2006 my main title was first place at European Championship, fighting in the first time in my weight (rooster).
In 2007 win again the European and I was 3rd in World championship, but from the third step of the podium, when I’m looking the first, I thought that I wanted to be there!
In 2008 I increased my competition life, and won a lot of important tournaments like Gracie Invitational, ADCC national championship and again the European. I also compete in Judo in wich I'm a brown belt.
In this year I come back to LA for the world championship, and fight very well but in the middle of fight of semi-final, my opponent broke my wrist, but I continued to fight and won! In the final, unfortunately, I lost and I was world's vice-champion.
In 2009 I won the National Fila Grappilng Championship and the European for the 4th times.
At the the end of 2009 I recieved my black belt and in 2010 I was 3rd in the European (first competition as black belt)
Today I continue to compete, in upper and Absolute divisions because often there aren’t enough rooster weight Black belt in Europe, but for me the most important is not a victory, but stay on the mat every time is possible to give your 100% and to show a good BJJ.
I become famous to be a fighter that is not afraid for anyone, even if my opponent is two times my weight.
Today, I’m the first black belt “100% made in Italy” that fight in adult division, the game is hard but I’ll train harder to become a top fighter!
